Sourcing network coverage

  1. In a web browser, go to download.geofabrik.de.
  2. Select your continent from the table.
  3. Download the .shp.zip for your country.
    1. If the .shp.zip is not available, select the country.
    2. Download the shp.zip for a sub‑region of the country.
  4. Extract all files from the downloaded shp.zip.
    There will be multiple different files within the ZIP file, but only the Shapefiles for the roads are required. These are usually labeled as gis_osm_roads_free_1.shp or similar. The base network to be edited is now saved to your computer. To complete the editing and produce the final network for Wx Horizon, you must first install QGIS.
